About Gerry Hatrix Rock Band
Our Musical Journey
Gerry Hatrix was formed in the summer of 2024 by three musicians from different corners of the United States: John from Kentucky, Gene from Louisiana, and Mark from Illinois. Rooted in the rich traditions of rock and roll music, each member brings decades of experience, having spent years performing in various bands, choirs, and musical projects.
Mark's Musical Journey
I’ve always had some type of music in my life from the Big Bands to the Standards. Influenced by my Step Dad’s Chicago back ground to my older brother’s introduction to the sounds of Bubble Gum, the Stones and the Beatles.
Growing up in the 70s listening to Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Clapton, and Super Tramp, staples in my musical enjoyment. In addition, bands like America, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and the Eagles, who fueled my admiration and inspiration to sing and play acoustic guitar.
Following High School I was the Front Man, singing in various bands, preforming throughout the Tri-State area of IL, WI & IN during the early 1980’s. Playing songs of the day from AC/DC, Genesis, Kansas and let’s not forget the Southern Rock Bands such as 38 Special, the Allman Brothers and Moly Hatchet.
Singing in the Church Choir for 3 decades is my way of giving back and giving praise. I continue with music in my life by keeping up with the latest music from artists both new and old.
So what kind of music would I play in my new band? ….. 6 decades of rock! Come out and join us in the journey!.
Gene's Musical Journey
Gene’s musical journey started young. Born of musical parents, he started singing early and appeared on local television children’s tv shows in early elementary school. While his musical grounding was in Gospel and “old timey” country and western, Gene was exposed to Rock and Roll, MoTown, Opera, Show Tunes, Pop and Metal. He may have been the only 16 year old in the woods around Castor Plunge Louisiana listening to Ozzie and Alice Cooper while “leading the singing” in the local backwoods Baptist Church! Gene has been honored to sing in MANY foreign countries including Ireland, Scotland, France, eastern and western Europe, and even Louisiana !
Even through his professional life as a Registered Nurse, HealthCare Administrator, Business Owner, and Veteran, Gene maintained his music and eventually met up with Mark and John in local Church choirs and Variety Shows. Now they look forward to sharing their music with YOU !!
John's Musical Journey
From the age of nine, John loved music and was a very talented percussionist. He joined the school band and played in the marching and concert bands throughout his school years. In junior high, he was selected as the student band director. John also sang and played the drums in the church choir while traveling the country. John had to take a 51-year break when he got married and started a family. He was invited to join a church variety show and that got him back into music. This invitation also led to an opportunity to perform in the Holy Land with his wife in the church choir. Unfortunately, their performance was cancelled due to the outbreak of war. It didn’t stop John from getting back into playing music. Not long after, he formed the Gerry Hatrix Rock Band with Mark and Gene. After eight months of rehearsals and practice, the band played their first concert. They performed to a crowd of over 300 people.
